Five Fabulous Photo Apps for Busy Moms

These are the apps that are on my iPhone, some of them can also be used on the iPad.  I use them all the time.  They allow me to collect all those great memories in the those little moments of down time.

Original Photo

Instagram - One of the best photo sharing apps on the market. FREE. Every other photo app in the list can  For the busy mom this app helps you take and share photos on the go.  This is my favorite camera to take pictures.  I love the fast and dirty way it get the photo taken, tweaked with a few filers and tools, tagged and shared in just a few minutes.  Want to know a little secret.  You can take a picture with Instagram and not share it.  In your preferences you toggle the "save original photo" option you can take a photo and it will save it to your photostream, if you just go back to camera without sharing you can access that photo later.  It is also lots of fun to see glimpses of other peoples life through their Instagram photos.  Of course you can share with Facebook, Twitter and other social media.  For the busy mom, this is a great way to take and share photos on the go.

Diptic - Fabulous and cost only $.99, this app allows the user to create photo collages from the users photostream. There is 179 customizable layouts and a whole bunch of fonts for writing on the collage.   I love this app.  I love making collages, especially for my weekly wrap up, linking up with Homegrown Learners.  When I first started making collages I used Photoshop.  It took a long time to pull it together. With Diptic I can do a collage easily while the kids are playing on the playground, waiting at the doctor office, or in some of those other mommy moments that happen every day.  Then on Fridays I just upload my collages, add a few words and go.  My blog post time went from hours to minutes.  It is also possible to share to Instagram, Facebook, Twitter and other social media.  For the busy mom this app helps simply consolidate photos into meaningful collages to share with family and friends.

Collect - My new favorite (FREE) photo app. This isn't a photo app as in it takes photos, but rather it is an
app to help collect photos, one each day.  I was so excited to find this app.  I always want to do scrapbooks, record things as they happen, but frankly, it ends up at the bottom of my "to do" list, then one day I wake up and I am ten years behind and I don't remember all those little details like I thought I would.  This is one photos a day, a caption and tags.  I can record not only the big events but the little moments of life as well (and the day they happen, in case I do get around to doing those scrapbooks). You can share calenders as well as individual photos with captions (they call them cards).  For the busy mom this app helps you stay on top of collecting (and remembering) all those wonderful moments.

VSCO cam - This makes really pretty pictures and it is FREE.  This is a new app for me, and I am still playing with it, but I think this will become a favorite for making family keepsake photos from my iPhone.  It gives a huge about of control with not only a variety of filters and tools but also gives a greater flexibility of use with how much filter to add, a variety of options with exposure, temperature, contrast, rotation and cropping. Of course you can share your photos with friends and family via social media.  For the busy mom, this app helps with the photo editing on the go, making beautiful photos from a cell phone.

AfterLight - Another really new app for me, like I just bought it five minutes ago.  I did pay $.99.  I bought it for one reason and one reason only: it crops in circles.  Oh but wait there is more, It can do all those fun photo editing things you can do with other apps like exposure and contrast.  It has a boatload of filters, and textures oh and did I mention, it crops in circles?  It also crops in triangles, octagons, flowers, hearts and a bevy of other shapes, even letters, which could be fun.  For the busy mom, this app helps to make those scrapbook worthy photos in a spare moment or two on your cell phone.

Oh in case you were wondering about the zucchini.  One of my husband's coworkers has a phenomenal garden.  The kiddos and I had lunch with the hubs, who greeted us with some cucumbers and this zucchini.
