Day 2 -
Today I am thankful for roots.  This plant sits right above my kitchen sink.  It is from a clipping from a throw away impatient Zippy gave me when she was in pre-school.  I love the perseverance of this little plant.  It reminds me daily to grow where I am planted.

Wordish Wednesday - butterfly

Zippy was collecting leaves for her leaf collection.  She is doing one as a school project.  On the edge of the arboretum there is this field of prairie plants.  I saw this butterfly just as it landed on the flower, a moment later it was fluttering off again. I just love the yellow against the purple flower.

I am so excited about this picture.  I took it with a little point and shoot camera and was, honestly surprised at how well it came out. I have to tell you, this makes me want to take more pictures like this.  Maybe someday I can get a real (DSLR) camera.

Last Sunday we were taking a family bike ride which wound its way through The University of Michigan Dearborn Campus and the Fairlane Estate (former home of Henry Ford), when we happened upon two deer.  No real camera but the cell phone, they stayed around long enough for us to capture several photos.  This is the best of the lot.
