How to Be a SuperWoman

Faster than a speeding carpool lane, stronger than a stinky diaper, able to balance work and family in a single bound.  It's a bird, it's a plane, it is SuperWoman.

SuperWoman.  You know the one.  She does it all.  But how?   Here is a brief how to guide inspired by all those great Super Women I know who keep it together on a daily basis.
  1. Stop.  Daily carve out some time for yourself. Recharge. This is vital. Weekly take a Sabbath. Do, do, doing is a sure-fire way to burnout. Work hard, play hard, but rest hard too.

  2. Set S.M.A.R.T Goals.  (Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Relevant, Time-bound) Write them down. No one person can do everything, or be everything to everybody.  Do you want to do everything? Decide what your everything is going to be. {Don't be afraid to say no}.  Being a superwoman is not about doing more and more, but rather being really good, and smart about doing those things you want to do.

  3. Evaluate.  Is everything you do aimed at meeting your goals? Are you simply running on the great hamster wheel of urgency. (Want a great little read on urgency?  Read Tyranny of the Urgent by Charles E. Hummel.)

  4. Prioritize.  Make a list of everything you do.  Write them down in order of importance.  Then put them on a schedule.  Not a list, a schedule.  Put down the amount of time it will take you to complete each task.  If you run out of time, go back and evaluate, or maybe there are some things that you do that could be delegated?

  5. Delegate.  Do you personally need to clean the toilet? Maybe not so much   Do you personally need to write your blog?  Yeah probably.  Those things that you personally don't have to do, find someone else to do it: kids, husbands, hired help. This frees up time and energy to focus on the important things.  This is the super secret to all superwomen. Look at every famous SuperWoman out there, chances are even if they portray the image that they do it all, they have help.
So there you have it, a step by step guide to being a SuperWoman.

This post is dedicated to all the superwomen out there.  The ones who make doing it all look so easy.
