First Day

Beginning again.  Starting slowly but thoroughly, I am embracing that quote: Begin as you mean to go on.

Zippy woke excited to start and completed her work early.  It amazes me the difference in her demeanor with the work at home verses the work at school.  I guess this is how she works best.

Here is our curriculum for the 2012 - 2013 school year - seventh grade, more or less.

Math - Khan Academy
Spelling - All About Spelling
Grammar - Starting with Grammarland - which is a fun {and free} living book, that conveys the different parts of speech with a sense of humor.
Reading - Nothing concrete just yet.  I want to marry history and reading together eventually, but for now she is just reading and noting her minutes.
Writing - Writing Strands
Science - Science is a hard subject to get my brain around curriculum wise.  We are starting out with a combination of Spectrum Science, which is a collection of bite-sized, test-prep, reading comprehension exercises and a Nature Journal/Notebook in the Charlotte Mason tradition.
Social Studies - American History - I am putting together a curriculum of my own, {which I will be sharing - but more on that later}.
Bible/Character Study - We Choose Virtues
Art - Drawing Lab by Carla Sondhiem
Music - Zippy will be participating in a Choir though a local homeschool enrichment group.  I still want her to have piano lessons (plan A), I just need to find a way to make that happen.
