The Art Box

Daisy Yellow is one of my absolute favorite blogs.  Like the name it is colorful, cherry and creative.  This summer Daisy Yellow is doing an art challenge of sorts called Index Card A Day.  Basically, every day you write, or draw, or collage, or whatever onto an index card.  I thought this would be a good way to introduce the discipline of journaling in fun, easy, summer way.

To facilitate our (yes, I'm going to do it too) index card making I put together a little art box.  Now I really think I need to say at this point, "Hi, my name is Holly and I am addicted to art supplies".  Yes, I put this whole box out of things I have around the house (and there is more where this came from, sad I know).

Here is the list of contents:
  • Crayons
  • Colored Pencils
  • Markers
  • Oil Pastels
  • Pastel Pencils
  • Tempera Paint
  • Glow in the Dark Paint Pens
  • Glitter Glue
  • Gesso
  • Tacky Glue
  • White Glue
  • Mod Podge
  • Stamps
  • Ink Pad
  • Scissors
  • Scrap Paper
  • Pictures cut out from magazines
  • Words cut out from magazines
What is your favorite art supplies?

  1. I had to laugh when I saw your pic of only a few art supplies. I am addicted as well. Just yesterday I was putting together some summer fun and educational activities for the ladies, and I decided to separate our crayons from the markers, etc.

I would have to say that I have more crayons than ANYTHING else, but I'm not sure they are my FAVORITE supply.

My favorite item would be my glue gun. Without it, I am nothing in the craft department. :)

  2. I love the daily art journaling idea (and the art box)! How clever! I'm not sure I'd get more than a red scribbled card every single day from my almost 3 year old son, but seeing all his previous works might just be enough to encourage him to branch out. Hmmm... Thanks for the idea!
